Just watched an awesome stand-up show by Margaret Cho, a star Korean-American comedian whom works address a lot in political, cultural and sexual issues. This show, taken place in L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center, was so energetic and humorous yet broadly underlie with critical perspective. Within the show was comedy talk about diverse sexual orientations, hardcore sex stories and sexual discriminations, performance like dance and strip show… All of them are mind opened and extraordinary. It lively present the discrimination free world. However, I don’t think this degree of controversial context will even have a chance to show in Hong Kong. Fortunately, I’ve seen it!
LA, Silver Lake
August 17, 2007Visited Silver Lake, East from Hollywood. This place is nice. Not like highly touristic Hollywood. However, the galleries are located too distant, and very difficult to find. So, I have only found out one of them, but it was good although it is small.

Great mocha bought in Silver Lake

Tall palms against clear sky in Silver Lake

Amazing a Chinese print ad. of McDonald here in Silver Lake… I guess I am not in China town…

Works shown in the small gallery in Silver Lake. The gallery manager was so nice, and we talk about galleries in Silver Lake, and the differences with Hollywood. I told her there are a group Hong Kong artists also work on this kind of illustration, maybe she can show some of their works here. However, she said the gallery is not ready to exhibit international works yet…
