Walking into a Leonardo Masterpiec, Maurizio Seracini, Jurgen Schulze and Philip Weber

This is a very interesting presentation. It is a research project which uses infrared, ultraviolet and other imaging techniques to scan Leonard’s Masterpieces. To reveal the process of drawing that underneath the paint. The upper example is a sketch of elephant that behind the mountain. In this project, They also developed a interface for looking through the painting. Viewer can move back and forth to observe different degree of layers of the painting in which resembling the physical movement when audiences perceiving an art piece.

Additionally, their screened several works in 4D projection. It was extraordinary detail, but the image seems “too real” to me. The camera eye has been one step further from human eyes again…

This day was very fruitful, and I finally introduced myself to Sheldon Brown, Director of CRCA. I must return here for further research later on!
